Bring on 2010

I am so excited about 2010, all the action and drama of the soccer world cup in South Africa and especially the valiant effort that has been made by the inhabitants of this country to get the venues a little more eco friendly.  I can only hope that the people that come from abroad offset their flights.

But lets talk wedding trends for 2010, very exciting! Eco Friendly (my personal favorite), Vintage and Rustic are the biggest trends internationally for 2010.  Hopefully the international wedding trends for 2010 will become national trends too and we will embrace our crazy, beautiful country and its environment. Some colour examples are Vintage; champagne, chocolate, olive green and violet, Eco Friendly; pearl, beige and sage green, Rustic; sunshine yellow, rust, cinnamon and emerald green.  These colours have been predicted by a wedding guru in the States. The joy of planning an eco friendly wedding still follows the principles of reuse, reduce and recycle and can be every bit as stylish as a non eco wedding, thanks to hire companies and some other truly inspiring people and companies that share in a green ethos.  There are some accreditation companies, too, that will only hand out accreditations after a lengthy and very stringent process.  Wedding rental companies also rent out candlelabras, tents, tables, chairs, silk runners, linen tablecloths and napkins, you can therefore have a fabulous day without buying a thing.  Big point here, dont BUY anything, you dont need to.  In this blog, I will go through all kinds of creative ideas, show you suppliers and help you create the most unique wedding day.  The best part is you will have done it all yourself.

I look forward to ideas and inspiration from you, too.  Here is to a wonderful 2010! In my next blog I will discuss the wedding trends in more detail and how we, as Africans can incorporate them into our lifestyle and country, giving it our own personal spin.  I will also begin to discuss a detailed 'how to' on having an eco friendly wedding, following practices which make sense and helping you to create a unique style.

Thanks for reading.

Faye
